What I think after hearing the number one ‘last words’ people say when they die.

What I think after hearing the number one ‘last words’ people say when they die.

A tweet came across my Twitter feed.

Apparently, the number one thing patients say when they are dying is 'I wish I hadn't worked so much.'
So the person who tweeted it was saying, 'Let's try to live an easy life.'
That tweet was shared an awful lot.

On the other hand, I remembered that when I saw the same tweet, a different thought crossed my mind.

Seeing the same content, I felt, 'Let's do exciting work so I don't have regrets on my deathbed.'
The thought of 'let's live an easy life' didn't cross my mind at all.

To begin with, I don't think 'it's better to live a life of hardship.'
If you live the way you want, that's fine.
There's no malice in the tweet from the person living an easy life, nor in those who shared it.

But the thought 'Wait, is that really okay?' crossed my mind.

As is often said, people work to earn a living.
Therefore, they spend most of their lives working.

However, I don't have feelings of pain or hardship towards the concept of working.
Since I've achieved the work and working style I love, it's now closer to advanced play.

Meeting people, talking, and launching services together is enjoyable.
It's exciting, and the feeling when I think 'This could work!' is exceptional.
It's also fun to drink with colleagues, whether things go well or not.
My time isn't particularly constrained, yet I'm still creating work.

Over the past 10 years, I've acquired the skill to freely create the work I love.
Thanks to that, it's like I'm doing what I love all day long.
If you go there, the old-fashioned sense of 'work' that people generally talk about doesn't exist.

That's why I think, 'It's a good thing I didn't live an easy life.'

It's strange to say it myself, but I believe I deliberately chose a difficult path.
Even when I earned enough money to live luxuriously, I put it into self-investment and business experience.
I postponed ordinary happiness and thought about things long-term.
And when I turned 30, I accumulated experience to do the work I love.

Thanks to that, even if I were to die now, I would say, 'It was fun.'
I still have many things I want to do, so I can't die yet. Lol

And now, there's no need to fear that jobs might disappear in the future.
I know I can fully demonstrate my value, and I can enjoy earning money.
As long as it's capitalism, people have no choice but to be involved in society through work.

That's why, if the meaning of 'living an easy life' is 'minimal easy work,' then it's the worst.
It moves furthest away from words like 'easy,' 'freedom,' and 'stress-free.'
Because work will only become a thorn in your side.

Every day, I spend 8 hours on things I don't really want to do.
Assuming human waking hours are 16 hours, that's half.
You spend half your life on things you don't really want to do.
Absolutely, its value is incomprehensible.

No matter what, I want to thoroughly enjoy those 8 hours too.
If the 8 hours of work become enjoyable, then you are truly free.
What's more, the future and life will not become uncertain.
This is because people who enjoy their work are ultimately sought after.

Alternatively, there is also the path of choosing a lifestyle where you don't work.
However, creating such a system comes with significant risks.
While it might happen through inheritance or some stroke of luck, it's futile to simply wish for it.
It's faster to think for yourself and move forward than to aim for a lucky punch.
No matter how you look at it, trying to take the easy way out is nothing but a risk.

Isn't it often the case that people don't realistically confront how their ideals can be achieved?
I struggle to understand why one would deliberately choose a lifestyle that leads to self-oppression.
I don't understand what one is thinking to want to move in a direction where they cannot be at ease.

Even if you think about it realistically, no answer will emerge.

It would be faster to plan a course of action and move towards the goal quickly.
There might be difficult times along the way, but once you arrive, life becomes incredibly enjoyable.
If you only think about ease without even starting to move, you'll never be able to relax.
What's more, you'll spend half of your life's time in places that aren't enjoyable.

Well, if someone enjoys that, then it's fine for them.
Values regarding life are diverse.
Even if oppressed for half the time, what's enjoyable will still be enjoyable.
Perhaps living a life that is half painful and half easy is also good, rather than achieving ideals quickly.
For example, you might be told you are unnecessary and laid off during that time.
You might also fear for your future life.
However, if you can think it's easy and enjoyable, then it might be good.
Coming full circle, such a way of life might even become a belief.
In this era, absolutely everything is made 'good' depending on one's values.
Therefore, you cannot generally say whether it is bad or good.

However, if you intuitively feel that such a way of life is 'undesirable'.

It is to set a goal early and draw a scenario to achieve your ideal.
It is to tread that path step by step and steadily advance.
There might be hardships along the way, but you will surely enjoy it.
And, as soon as possible, reach your intended goal.
You should never be swayed by the word 'ease' right in front of you.

Even so, I truly don't understand.
Is it the current generation, or is it just that kind of era?
