It's often said that we live in a society where everyone can be a creator.

PlayStation 4 version ofGrand Theft Auto Vhas a feature called Rockstar Editor.

Surprisingly,Grand Theft Auto Vyou can make movies using the world of.

When was this feature added?

Thinking that sounded interesting, I tried making this.

What do you think?

It was supposed to be my first time, but it turned out more like a short movie than I imagined.

I was able to grasp how to create with the PlayStation 4 version after tinkering with it for about 2 hours.

Even though it's game quality, I was surprised at how freely you could create with it.

The shooting method isn't that difficult either.

Grand Theft Auto VYou record the footage of playing the game and then edit it later.

You can freely shoot with various characters in a mode called Director Mode.

Camera work and such can be freely changed even after shooting, so you can express yourself visually however you like.

That's because it's not recording video, but rather "the actions themselves".

It records and reproduces all characters, objects, and other movements displayed on the screen not as video, but as action data.

It's a system where you record the movement itself, not the video footage, and then you can edit the camera work later.

Also, there are many screen filters available, so if you want to create a cool expression, you can apply a filter to add flavor to the image.

Fast-forward like time-lapse and slow motion are, of course, also possible.

As for how they filmed places with crowds of people, the people in the city are incredibly detailed, and each of them is performing various actions.

You film those city people and then use them in editing later.

They're like excellent extras.

It's amazing.

Grand Theft Auto VThe level of detail.

If you could freely set the placement and combinations of the city people yourself, you'd be able to film more ideal scenes.

Since even I can think of it, perhaps it will become freely changeable later.

Honestly, a filming method I never expected.

Is it common knowledge for people in the industry?

For example, casuallyGrand Theft Auto VPlay within [the environment], record it, and then change the camera work later to edit it coolly! I wouldn't have thought of that.

Because if you were filming in real life, you'd have to shoot many takes.

But with CG, you can freely change the camera work.

Once the movement itself is decided in the 3D space, the camera work itself can be changed later.

It might be an idea that people who make movies with CG would think of, but generally, I never expected such a thing to be possible.

Moreover, a huge city set is assembled from the beginning, and you can use it freely.

There's no need to rent a location, nor is there any need to worry about time.

Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if new creator tools specifically for filmmaking were born.

Play (act) freely in the city, then gather and edit the good scenes later.

I want something like that.

If you want to move multiple characters freely, you can just record their movements beforehand and then composite them.

Such features will probably be created eventually.

This entire flow of filming itself feels, in a way, very fresh and full of new possibilities.

If you think about it, in recent years, the quality of CG has improved considerably, to the point where it's indistinguishable from live-action.

If we can achieve similar filming with the same level of quality, then a society where everyone can make CG movies will surely arrive.

Revolution. Innovation.

A society where everyone can shoot CG movies.

I truly believe this.

If we push the filming methods of the Rockstar Editor to their limits, such an era will definitely come.

Why do I think that? Because the videos other creators are making are even more amazing.

Let me introduce them.

This work conceptually expresses the idea of continuously running.

It could even work as a music video.

And just as I thought, they also made a music video.

It's edited in a really moving way.

It really makes you realize how important editing power is in video.

With storytelling.

Grand Theft Auto VI wonder if there was such a scene in that world.

This feels like National Geographic, doesn't it?

So, music and narration are added later with another tool, right?

All this footage can be created within the game world, as of now.

If this is 10 years from now, I bet short movies with the quality of current films will be producible.

Even now, a separate tool is needed to add voices, but you can just record and layer them later, and it seems feasible once mouth movements can be reproduced.

Rockstar Editor, please make it happen.

Grand Theft Auto VOr rather, skipping about 3 titles, I wonder if it will be possible by around 8.

Or,Grand Theft Autowill it become usable separately from the series?

If there was a platform where footage from other games could also be edited together, that would be quite fun.

Or rather, if you're motivated, it should be possible even with current technology.

Above all, creating it was incredibly fun.

In fact, it was so much fun that I'd want to keep making just this forever.

Because now, I can create with my own hands the world view that I've only been watching until now.

At first, I thought I'd get bored quickly and just tried it a little, but it was so much fun that I ended up staying up all night creating it.

I spent about 12 hours trying to complete one, wanting to finish it.

Moreover, the more I looked at it, the more scenes and effects I wanted to fix, so I think it was a tool that stimulated my senses.

The day when everyone can be a film director is near, isn't it?

If robots and technology develop, I believe that the human activities that will ultimately remain are play and creating entertainment like this, and I felt like I got a glimpse of that future.

If you're interested,Grand Theft Auto V please buy it.

The game itself is quite a masterpiece, so you'll definitely enjoy it.

After that, please do try the Rockstar Editor.

It seems like the PC version allows for even more various things.

I had an experience where I couldn't help but look forward to future evolutions.

It was fun.

I never imagined that Grand Theft Auto V's Rockstar Editor could be so enjoyable. I had a great experience, so I wholeheartedly recommend it. Please, everyone, enjoy the game and then enjoy video production.
