Hello. This is Kamiyama.
I usually create and sell businesses.

Last timeI explained the necessity and methods for fundamentally acquiring the ability to earn.
In that context, I believe I mentioned that events are easy for practicing business.

That said, I think there are people who don't know how to create events.
Planning is certainly important, but especially attracting customers/attendees.
Even though I created a plan, how on earth should I gather people?
Isn't that the biggest point of concern?

Therefore, today I will explain how to create events, including methods for attracting customers/attendees.
This is what I myself have learned from continuously organizing events for about 5 years.

First, let's put forth an attractive concept and vision.

When launching something, most people think about something.

That is the question, 'Well, what kind of event should I do?'

Actually, it's wrong the moment you think, 'What should I do?'
Rather than being wrong, it becomes difficult to gather people.

What you should think about first is the concept and vision.
Simply put, it's what you want to achieve through that event.

Good events have concepts and visions that make them good events.
And the concept is firmly manifested in a clearly understandable way.

For example, an event called Dîner en Blanc.
It's an event where people have dinner dressed in white, with white decorations, everything completely white.
The location is revealed just before the event, and a public space becomes the venue.
Everyone sets up the venue themselves.
Dinner is held in an elegant space that suddenly appears in a public area.
The concept of a secret dinner is well-represented, and over 10,000 people still gather.

There's also an event called Burning Man.
In the middle of the desert in Nevada, a city suddenly appears during the last week of August.
Centered around a human-shaped effigy called THE MAN, everyone builds the city as they please.
The theme is 'Don't be a spectator'.
Everyone creates various tents, from performances to shops.
And one more thing: in the city of Burning Man, you must not use money.
Everything must be obtained through bartering.
It's a departure from the monetary economy, which is why everyone gathers voluntarily, and it continues to this day.

Other famous events that people voluntarily want to participate in have a concept.
There is a clear and attractive vision that they want to achieve.
Instead of blindly holding ordinary events, always have one vision.
If you remove the concept or vision, you'll simply have to attract people manually.
For this part, let's create a core that absolutely makes people think, 'I want to come,' 'I want to participate'.

Methods for attracting people to events. Develop leadership skills.

Basically, the method for attracting people to an event is simple.
It's about having an exciting event where like-minded friends can all enjoy themselves.
It's essential to create an atmosphere where even the organizers themselves are having fun and feeling excited.
Of course, there will be many difficulties, but it's all enjoyable when you take everything into account.

However, just having fun can lead to a deficit, so let's all promote it and attract people.

Each staff member will have a guest list.
Then, they will write down the names of those who say they will come on the guest list.
What needs to be noted here is that 60% to 70% of the people written on the guest list will not come.

Therefore, if you want to invite 10 people, you need to acquire a list of 30 people.
If you want to gather 100 people, you need 300.

Of course, the reliability and popularity of the person inviting also play a role.
However, for contingencies, it's easier later if you assume that 30% to 40% will come.

Thinking this way makes it easier to get an estimate of how many people to invite.
You can also choose the venue size by calculating backward from the estimated number.

Proceeding with the above approach reveals that cooperation with colleagues is essential for attracting people.
If there are 20 staff members, and each can gather 5 people, that's 100 people.
It becomes possible to invite 100 people with just 5 people per staff member.
This means that if each person acquires a list of 15 names, 100 people will gather.
Plus, with 20 staff members, that's a total of 120 people.
Even in a moderately sized venue, you can create excitement.

What's left is the need for an atmosphere and enjoyment where all team members can work together as one.
As with anything, if it's not fun to do, people won't be motivated to act.
Even for myself, if the atmosphere isn't enjoyable, there's no point in doing it.

Also, if the concept is solid in addition to the human wave strategy, it will spread by word of mouth.
And people who want to come on the day will appear on their own.

If you want to create a business, first try honing your leadership skills through events.
If you can create an event with over 100 people, your leadership skills will be significantly refined.
You should also be able to grasp, to some extent, how to involve those around you.

Furthermore, in addition to the human wave strategy, there are also ways to attract customers online.
However, either way, 'human connection' becomes a great weapon.
You need to acquire leadership that makes people like you.
First, try to master this method.

Let's properly consider a mechanism for distributing profits.

Depending on the event, profit distribution may not even be necessary.
However, after holding a fun and exciting event, you'd want to eliminate as many elements of conflict as possible, right?
Therefore, let's propose a fair distribution mechanism from the beginning.

While I believe there are many distribution mechanisms, here's one example for this time.

Let's say sales are generated after the event.
First, set aside approximately 10% to 20% of the money to be used for the next event.
And for team members who worked harder on attracting attendees, we'll give back several hundred yen per person.
In addition to the above, we will deduct the expenses incurred for the event from the sales and distribute the remaining profit to everyone.
Then, those who worked hard to attract customers will receive a bonus, and money can be distributed fairly to everyone.
Furthermore, you can save money for the next time, allowing you to make the event bigger.

If there is a deficit, and if your colleagues agree, everyone will bear the cost fairly.
If you particularly dislike burdening others, bearing the cost yourself might also be an option.
In my case, for events I started myself, that's usually what I did.
(Though, to begin with, there were almost no events that ran at a loss.)

Without a mechanism to distribute profits, dissatisfaction will eventually arise.
No matter what, motivation won't increase.
It's different if there's a culture where everyone works hard for free, like at a club event!
However, there isn't just one way to run an event.
The culture where people work without being paid is the minority.
Therefore, let's make it clear from the beginning to avoid trouble.

Summary

There are various other know-hows, but for now, I've conveyed three important points.
If you master the content I've shared this time, you should be able to make your events exciting.

By holding events, you can gain a lot of experience.
Starting with leadership, how to build an organization, and methods for attracting customers.
Furthermore, it might lead to connections, relationships, and even future potential customers.
All opportunities for creating and continuing a business exist.

Now, let's manage it properly, create a schedule, and proceed.
If you've ever built a team, attracted an audience, and created an event with over 100 people.
The power to launch your own business will be considerably sharpened.

As I said last time, holding an event is good practice for building a business.
You can also make a profit through trial and error, without taking on significant risks.
You can learn everything necessary for business here, making it much easier to build a business.

Rather than saying it gets easier, it might be more accurate to say you get used to it.

By the way, in addition to human wave tactics for attracting customers, there are also online strategies.
Of course, there are also good tools for attracting customers.
There are also several management methods and means that should be utilized.
There are also many monetization mechanisms, not just for guests.
There are many know-hows and methods, so please think about them yourself.
At least, it's much easier than it used to be.

By the way, an event of about 100 people can be realized even in a small restaurant.
It can be achieved without significant cost, so please give it a try.
