Anyone can do it! How to create a job that ‘doesn’t exist’!

"What was the most moving moment in your life?"

If asked that, I would probably answer, "The moment I became independent as a freelancer," around third place. By the way, the first was the moment my child was born, and the second was the moment I got married.

However, the emotions of the first and second are also instinctive emotions as living beings. Honestly, they are on a different scale compared to other emotions, so if human reason were working at its maximum, the moment of becoming independent as a freelancer would practically be the most moving moment.

That day, I quit my company and immediately held an independence celebration party with my friends. I went home, fell into a deep sleep, and the next morning, when I woke up rubbing my sleepy eyes, it was already past 10 AM.

I jumped up, thinking, "Oh no! I'm late! I have to go to work!" But my sleepy head quickly woke up, and at that moment, I remembered that "I don't have to go to the company anymore."

For a moment, a surge of joy came over me, thinking, "Ohhh! I'm free! I'm not bound by anything!" But at the same time, my chest was filled with many complex emotions: anxiety and excitement about creating my own work from now on, and loneliness about fighting alone.

I slowly got out of bed, took a shower, and ate breakfast. After finishing my morning routine and switching from sleepy mode to work mode, I immediately spread out a drawing pad. Then, in the center of the pure white paper, I added the sentence, "How to create work."

With a clear head, I thought. I don't have much work right now. If things continue like this, I won't be able to make a living. So, how exactly should I create work? I need to think about that method. The ideal situation is one where work is constantly being generated. If I can create work or a system that allows me to earn money myself, there's no greater stability than that.

Yes. If people can create their own work, they can achieve the greatest stability. It would be great if I could create work from scratch on the spot, no matter where I am in the world. As long as I have the skill to generate work, I can earn money anywhere. Even on the other side of the world.

Conversely, if you don't know how to create work, you need to get work from a company or someone else. Even a company might go bankrupt. But if you know how to create work, it won't bother you at all if a company goes bankrupt.

From then on, I dedicated myself to building the know-how and methods for creating work from scratch. In a sense, people only become truly free when they can create the work they love. Creating work from scratch is essentially the royal road skill for humans to become free within capitalism.

To create work from scratch, a vision is useful.

Have you understood the significance of the skill of creating work? Believing that you have understood, this time I will talk about "how to specifically create work." By being able to create work, you can become truly free. The word "vision" is useful for that purpose.

Why do I do this work? "Why" is the most important word when creating work. The reason for doing that work, the object that one should achieve. That can be said to be the vision itself.

When it comes to vision, some people might have a very grand image. If there are people who can strongly empathize with it, they are probably a minority. Some talk about visions like wanting to change the world or save humanity, and I am one of them. However, I don't think everyone can empathize with that weight.

A vision is the seed of work. From it, sprouts emerge, fruits are formed, and work is born. Even if you say, "Come on, let's create work now!" I know that most people don't have anything they want to do. So, where exactly should one aim? That guiding light is the vision.

Let's solve the problems in the world.

It all comes down to this one phrase. And from this one phrase, a vision is born.

Society has many problems. Declining birthrate and aging population, the waiting list for childcare, the disparity society – there are countless problems. If we talk about more specific problems, for example, it could be 'My friends often fight, so I want them to make up,' or 'I want to eat caviar ice cream, but it's not sold nearby, which is inconvenient,' or 'I want to meet old friends, but I don't have their contact information.'

It's good to solve these problems. And if there's even a slightly 'more convenient world' beyond that, that's the vision. For example, 'I want to be able to contact old friends immediately,' 'I want everyone to have the mental strength to stop fighting quickly,' or 'I want to be able to eat my favorite ice cream right away.' When a concrete goal to aim for is born, that itself becomes the vision.

And if you can specifically create and provide services that solve those problems, that's already a job. Find a problem, find the vision beyond it, and then realize it. This series of steps is the act of 'creating a job from scratch.'

Let's investigate the problems that exist in society today. Research and list the problems in your local area or those close to you. You should find several.

Once you find them, choose one problem that you feel you can start moving towards solving yourself. Then, think about how to solve it and turn the solution into a service. This is the basic principle of 'creating a job that doesn't exist.' Problems in society are things that everyone is racking their brains over, wishing for them to be solved quickly. That's why they exist as problems.

As a result, if there's a problem that people 'want to solve even if they have to pay a little money,' that becomes a job. And it becomes a vision. The way to create a job is to solve problems that exist in the world.

For jobs with concrete problems and visions, marketing is also smooth.

Jobs born from this process already have everyone's awareness of the problem, and people hope someone will solve it. That's why marketing becomes easier. It's difficult to sell something that people don't recognize as a problem. On the other hand, if there's already a common understanding of a 'problem,' it can be sold easily.

Perhaps, at the initial stage, it might be a challenge-based motivation of 'Let's just try to solve this problem for now.' You might feel like you're stepping onto a shaky bridge, just trying to take one step. Such anxiety might be dominant. However, strangely enough, once you decide on a problem to tackle and proceed with commercialization, your motivation gradually increases, you gain confidence, and your emotional involvement strengthens.

And later, the recognition that it's something you must do, something only you can do, grows stronger. Most people experience this. That's why, once you've decided on a problem and a vision, just start. Work on it with all your might, articulate your vision, and send out the message that you want to solve this problem. Then, before you know it, your awareness of problem-solving will have settled in as your own vision.

Points to note when creating a job from problems and visions.

Furthermore, when solving problems, you shouldn't dream of things completely out of your reach. No matter how big a job it seems to be, anything that far exceeds your capacity is dangerous. Most people give up due to the difficulty of realization or drop out because the job doesn't materialize easily.

When you actually start, it's good to focus on problems within your reach. Start with what you can do first, and gradually raise the bar as commercialization progresses. If you try to start with large investments or actions right away, you'll quickly get stuck.

Now, what kind of problems do you want to tackle and commercialize? First, list the problems and start with what seems feasible to begin walking towards a solution. Furthermore, send out a message like 'I will solve this problem and realize such a society.' From there, your story begins.
