[Part 4] Let’s gain the power to think for yourself! What is the ‘most necessary’ way of thinking for success?

Hello. This is Kamiyama.

It's been 3 days since I came to Whitehorse, a city in the far north of Canada.
Today, I'm returning to Vancouver.

For a change of pace, I tried working out on the snowfield, and it felt good.

When you try working in a mysterious place like this, you can think about things from a completely different perspective.
It depends on the person, but for me, the environment I work in can greatly change my ideas.
By the way, at that time, I was organizing my thoughts on 'what kind of strategy I should use for my business from now on'.

It's often a task called brainstorming (brainstorm).
Normally, people exchange ideas in a group, but this time I was doing it alone.
Without drawing conclusions on the spot, the point is to just come up with various ideas.
Then, you sometimes arrive at ideas that you hadn't thought of at all.

In the case of brainstorming, by changing the environment, ideas can also change significantly.
That's why I often gather multiple members and hold a retreat.
For example, we might go to Enoshima and brainstorm while looking at the sea, or try it in a hot spring.
A change of location brings about significant changes in thinking and ideas.
Now that I've gone all the way to the ends of the north, it's natural to want to think about various things.
And so, it turned out like this.

As a result, it turned out to be a really good time, but I'll explain this again later.
If you think 'I might also be the type whose ideas are influenced by the environment,' please give it a try.

Anyway, today I don't particularly want to explain about brainstorming.
I will talk about 'the importance of forming hypotheses'.

We touched on this a little in the previous content, didn't we?

Everyone, when you challenge something new, do you just start without much thought?
Of course, acting recklessly is a good thing.
However, if you act recklessly without thinking, the effect will be diminished.
If you're going to act anyway, you want to achieve maximum results, right?

Therefore, a 'hypothesis' is necessary to maximize the results of your 'actions'.
What is necessary to succeed at something is to analyze failures and successes.
Why did what you set up succeed?
Or why did it fail?
Thoroughly identifying those factors increases the probability of a successful challenge.
However, in most cases, the depth of analysis for failures and successes is shallow.
While it's true that the fundamental number of attempts is often small, the most important thing is to deeply reflect on successes and failures and identify all factors.

However, to analyze factors, there is something needed first.
That is, forming a 'hypothesis'.

By creating an assumption beforehand when challenging something, such as 'If I do this, won't this happen?', and then executing it, you verify whether your hypothesis is correct.

This process is similar to the way researchers operate.

Perhaps it might be like this.
If I set it up this way, won't it succeed?
Probably, this will fail, won't it?

By setting a hypothesis in advance, verification after implementation becomes easier.
And by actually setting up and verifying, 'this hypothesis was successful' or 'this hypothesis failed,' you find the correct answer.

There is a world of difference between having a hypothesis and not having one.
You can clearly understand what you did wrong and what made you successful.

If you don't repeat the same mistakes twice, it's natural for your success rate to gradually increase.

Recording the repetition of failures and successes, and building future challenges based on previous hypotheses, is arguably the most important way of thinking for project success.

This way of thinking is called 'hypothesis thinking'.

A few years ago, the concept of 'logical thinking' became popular, but hypothesis thinking and logical thinking, when mastered together, achieve maximum effect.

Regarding the basic concepts of logical thinking and hypothesis thinking"The Textbook for Creating Work"is described in, so if you are interested, please read it.

Often, a 'way of thinking' is required to succeed in business.
So, what kind of thinking is necessary?

What is needed is a way of thinking that enhances your own cognitive abilities, such as 'hypothesis thinking' and 'logical thinking,' which focuses on 'how you can think about and solve problems yourself'.

You must never become a mere puppet who only imitates someone else's success patterns.
That is not called a way of thinking; it is called work.
Even if you only master the work, once the system stops working, you can never fix it yourself again.
The ability to break through any situation with your own way of thinking is what is called 'a way of thinking'.

Imitating someone else's success pattern is the minimum requirement.
Beyond that, being able to 'think with your own head' allows you to continue succeeding.

Let's thoroughly think about and carry out hypotheses, verification, and improvement with our own minds.
If you can always improve through hypothesis testing, then success becomes 'a matter of time' for anyone.
