Hello. This is Kamiyama.
I usually create and sell businesses.
Last time, regarding how to create specific work and how to create a visionI tried writing about it. In Japan, visions tend to be underestimated, but as the most important axis for side businesses and startups, it's crucial to firmly decide on your direction. Without a vision, whatever you do, you will likely follow a difficult path.
This time, after deciding on your vision and the direction of your side business or startup, how to develop a business planhow to specifically give it shape,I will tell you the first step. First, it's about how to create a business plan. It's also called a business proposal.
First, an important big step is tothoroughly compile your business plan into a visible form.First, start writing from your theme and vision, and then, as ideas come to mind, continuously decide and write down what needs to be determined. Word, PowerPoint, or any tool you are familiar with is fine.
While brainstorming with someone, unilaterally create your business plan by yourselfand keep writing. You can create a more impactful business plan by writing it alone rather than mixing many opinions.
What's important here is to use text, diagrams, photos, etc., and expand on concrete images in real-time as you write. Don't think then create, but think while creating. Think while writing your business plan. Even if you think you know what kind of business you're going to do in your head, when you put it down on paper, you might unexpectedly encounter pitfalls or come up with new, expansive ideas.
Try not to slow down your typing and keep writing. The trick is to keep writing as ideas come to mind. Please keep writing your business plan. The order of items and methods of expression can be revised as much as you want later. However, the imagination to expand business content and ideas, and to refine other details, often comes up or is discovered in the moment of writing.
Later, you might look at that business plan and think, 'What is this? It's no good at all.' That's okay. There are also times when the content you scribbled down in a roundabout way will be useful.
By the way, it's better to avoid handwriting. In any case, you'll end up digitizing the material on a computer or other device, so writing by hand is just double the work. It's also hard to read. If you do use handwriting, use it as a tool for organizing your thoughts, such as logic trees or mind maps, rather than for the actual content you're compiling. It can be smoothly repurposed when creating websites or content.
It might seem like a chaotic business plan at first glance, but you can refine and organize the ideas and content later. Also, no matter how much you think, 'Isn't that wrong? Isn't this difficult?', it's ultimately justyour own delusion. It's nothing more than that. What is truly right or a failure can only be knownafter you actually start running the business. That's how it is.
After starting, by observing reactions, listening to user feedback, and looking at collected data, you continue to pivot and fine-tune your business plan, eventually reaching its complete form. That is the basic principle.
Often, some people overthink, saying 'Isn't that wrong? Isn't this wrong?', and rewrite their business plan many times. Such struggle is,frankly speaking, a waste. It is.Your own values are, after all, just your own. That's the reality. Keep challenging ideas, giving them form, and launching them into society. Only then will you truly understand what succeeded and what failed.
By the way, at this stage, you shouldn't worry about numbers at all.
Calculations like 'I'll generate this much revenue by this time' are, after all, just 'goals' that you'll have to rewrite many times as you progress. Rather than focusing on numbers,it's about how useful it is to people, and how well it solves problems. That's what matters. If it's something great for people, the numbers will definitely follow later.
What makes a service great for the world? How can it be made easy to see, easy to use, and easy to buy? Instead of spending time calculating numbers, think it through thoroughly.
Once you've decided on everything you need to decide, let's finally start preparing to release it to the world. First, you need to use the internet to convey your service or business to the world. For that, you need a 'base' like a homepage or a blog to communicate your thoughts to the world. Next time, we will discuss the stage of communicating your business to the world specifically using homepages, blogs, and social networks.
