Recently, I'm often consulted.
'I'm struggling because I don't have a job I want to do.'
I want to start a business, I want to do a side job. But I don't know what to do. I think there are many people like that.
However, there's one thing I can say.
As long as you keep saying that, you'll never find it in your lifetime.
Basically, unless you're blessed with environmental luck, you won't easily find what you want to do. And even things you declared, 'I'll dedicate my life to this!', you might want to do something else halfway through. Or, due to environmental or age factors, you might become unable to continue.
The hurdle of finding what you truly want to do is high in itself. Moreover, continuing to do one thing forever is almost impossible.
There are certainly people who have a clear idea of what they want to do from the start. However, they are only those who are blessed with luck in terms of environment, personality, and choices.
Doing nothing because 'I can't find what I want to do.' Or if you continue the current situation. You'll never realize what you should do or what you want to do in your lifetime.
About 10% of people in the world might be able to find it.
Most people's 'what they want to do' can only be found by continuing until they become 'good at it'.
Some people might say, 'But there are people actually doing what they want to do!'
That's either a 'hallucination' you're seeing only now, or 'someone who became good at it by continuing'.
In most cases, even if it's fun at first, as time passes, it becomes clear.
Like, maybe I didn't like it that much.
Or it was different from what I expected.
It's fine when you enter the industry with sparkling eyes, full of admiration.
However, there are many difficult things, and you might 'lose' your way.
You often hear the phrase 'different from what I expected,' don't you?
Giving up because it was different from what you expected is like giving up on the journey to find what you love.
After all, you won't come to love something unless you continue it until you become good at it.
Even if there are difficult things, you need to keep doing it without thinking it's difficult.
People come to love what they become good at.
Even if they didn't like it much at first, they start to love it.
Becoming good at it, gaining freedom in work.
For the first time, you realize, 'This is what I wanted to do.'
However, it's not that you 'wanted to do it' from the start.
It's a mistake to say you 'wanted to do it' from the start; it's that you 'came to want to do it' because you became good at it.
You'll come to love anything if it goes smoothly and you're praised by others.
People can find joy in anything.
When you are praised by someone, earn money, and things start to go smoothly.
Most things start to feel 'fun'.
Is there anyone who dislikes being praised by someone?
Unless you're truly eccentric, I think you'll feel uplifted.
The exhilaration of being recognized shapes one's character.
You start to think of it as your true calling.
The shortest path is to 'keep doing it,' no matter how much you dislike it, until you become good at it.
Keep doing it and understand it well.
And from the moment you start to be recognized, you'll begin to feel 'fun'.
If you still don't want to do it, then it's probably 'not really for you'.
Or, you've accumulated too much experience and 'gotten bored'.
Once you become a professional and acquire skills and knowledge.
That experience will support you until you step into the next stage.
If you get bored, then start something new, anything at all.
Since you know how to become a professional, you should find it easy to grow.
In fact, people called 'successful' often grow exceptionally fast, don't they?
That's probably why they are successful.
If you can't find 'what you want to do'.
Try starting with something that catches your eye and seems doable.
Continue, focus intensely for a short period to master it, and make it your own.
If you can become a professional at something, your life will change.
You will no longer think about what you 'want to do'.
You will simply be able to live an 'exciting life'.
