The challenge of whether being true to one’s desires can truly become a job.
Lately, I've been thinking about what to tackle next.
I've been trying various things for about two months, but nothing clear has emerged. It's unusually long. But I'm used to this kind of thing. I think many people often wonder, 'What do I really want to do?' or 'What kind of life do I truly desire?' I often encounter the same feeling.
When I fall into that kind of feeling, it's useless to just sit still and think about it in my head.
It's about trying various things, whether for fun or work, and then making a judgment. After trying many things, over several months, I've vaguely started to see what I want to aim for next. It's always like this. For the past 10 years, whenever I've felt unsure about what to do next at various turning points, I've decided my direction using the same method. This time is no different.
By the way, we continue to offer website creation and website marketing as a base. I believe that most modern IT and website creation companies are exploring new ventures beyond just website creation. I think it's also necessary for 'individuals' to continuously unearth such unknown possibilities. In that sense, I'm currently unsure of my direction.
When you're lost, I believe the first thing to consider is finding 'a guideline,' no matter what it is. Even on a blank, white canvas with nothing on it, if you decide on just one direction, you can start walking. You can't see the path because you're thinking without deciding anything, so it's important to 'decide' something, anything, even if it's a lie.
What I considered this time was 'what kind of life I truly want for myself' and 'how I want to live.' From there, I figured I could derive what to do next. Once I have a guideline for how I truly want to live, all I have to do is follow it.
First, 'I want to live freely,' 'I want to live by traveling,' 'I want to go to various places around the world,' and 'within the scope of a sole proprietorship' – I guess that's about it. If that's the case, jobs that are restrictive in terms of time and finances would likely be excluded. This means most jobs in Japan would be out of the picture. It's surprising, but then again, it makes sense. Even starting a company would be excluded as an option. I also think it's questionable for a president to only do what they want after starting their own company.
At the very least, service industries with clients wouldn't fit this challenge. Besides, I already have a website business, and it would be tough for an individual to take on two service industry challenges. Also, anything that involves handling complaints or inquiries is out, as that would also be a source of constraint. This is difficult. It's difficult, but there must be something, and I kept thinking, 'There's no problem that can't be solved if I think about it!'
So, what I arrived at was 'a form where I can write and share what I like, when I like, and it gets appreciated, attracting people.' This points to media or a blog.
So, what about media? But to succeed in media, it's important to narrow down a 'theme' to some extent. However, narrowing down a theme means being constrained to pursue only that. I wouldn't be able to do what I like, when I like. For example, if I've been focusing on technology, I can't suddenly switch gears and write fashion articles. That, in itself, lacks freedom. I think the key is whether I can continuously share various themes and have people appreciate that style.
Furthermore, I try not to think about SEO or marketing as much as possible. The writing style, context, and all the information I handle are entirely as I please. Moreover, it's not like people stop looking at it if there's a gap; rather, it's something that many people can always see. There's no such convenient story! Without thinking that, I'd like to give it a try for now.
By the way, if I write things like this, I might get invitations from various people, but since selling other people's products means you're not free, please understand that.
Therefore, I will do my best to write various things, aiming for 'a brand that can disseminate information anytime, anywhere, and be liked by many people.' I think it's perfectly fine for a challenge to have such simple motivations and be true to one's desires, actually. Rather, I wonder if not being able to honestly look at what one wants to do and what one desires leads to confusion. Even from such a motivation, a tremendous invention might be born someday.
