It doesn’t have to be special. I want to be excited! That feeling creates the future.

Nice to meet you. I am Kamiyama. I started my own business at the age of 25 and have been involved in web production and web marketing businesses ever since.

I was given the topic of why I started my own business, so I took a moment to look back. I realized that my initial motivation was probably, 'I just wanted to be excited. I wanted to do something fun.'

Something exciting, something fun. For me, that was 'creating work'. Creating work or starting a business might seem very difficult. However, someone told me, 'It's tough, but it's not something to overthink.'

I'm still not anyone special now, but back then, I was even less so. In fact, whether it was studying, sports, or anything else I tried, I was below average. Even so, I thought, 'I want to do something fun and exciting!'

When I consulted someone about this, they said, 'Work is fun.' They told me that if you're serious about it, the line between work and play isn't that different.

It means that if you make cookies for someone who wants to eat them, it becomes work.

For example, in America, there was a 9-year-old boy who sold cookies in front of his house and even turned it into a company. He apparently made cookies with his mother and sold them in front of their house. It turned out the cookies were surprisingly delicious, and they gained popularity from many people.

Then, the boy and his mother realized something. Organic cookies were selling better. So, if they made the most delicious organic cookies, wouldn't they sell even more? After realizing this fact, the mother and son researched every day how to make the most delicious organic cookies.

And then one day, they finally made and sold incredibly delicious organic cookies, and they sold a lot and became very popular.

Even if it's something started with a simple intention in front of your house, if you can 'create something someone wants' or 'make someone happy,' that becomes money as compensation.

If that thing is globally useful or has a big impact on the world, then I realized it could become like Apple or Facebook. I thought, 'How wonderful!'

For example, making food for someone who is hungry. That's the food and beverage industry, right? Helping people who are busy and in trouble. If you can respond to what someone needs, that becomes work. For me at the time, it was a very easy-to-understand explanation.

Then, I suddenly felt like I could do it too (laughs). Looking back now, I think it was a wonderful misunderstanding. But I also think it would be great if these kinds of misunderstandings spread more and more.

I thought about what to do, and in the end, I decided that something that is needed by someone in any world would be good.

In my case, what I chose first was a website.

Websites will definitely be necessary from now on, so I decided to acquire website skills. I acquired skills, studied, and spent time, and as a result, I started making websites, planning them, doing media work, and generally began jobs related to websites.

There were many people in the world who didn't know how to use a website, or even what it was in the first place. I thought, 'If I acquired those skills, I could help them.'

As a result, I was supported by many people, and things worked out. I was able to turn it into a business. The process to get there was quite challenging. However, it was also a lot of fun, and that's why I think I was able to continue.

Both hardships and successes can be enjoyed if you're in the mood. Overcoming the wall of 'I can't do it,' and then, as a result, everyone cooperating to provide value and having a party while saying 'That was great,' all of it was fun and exciting.

The activity of work itself is so enjoyable that it can be called a calling.

Often, people wonder what suits them. What would be fun to do? I think there are many people who think that way. But instead of 'what would be fun to do,' I've recently been thinking that it would be great if the work itself were a calling. It doesn't matter what you do or which one you choose; the work itself is a calling.

Being able to provide value and make someone happy. For that purpose, what you do doesn't matter much; I think making that person happy, realizing that, is what's fun.

Recently, I often imagine a society where even teenagers can easily take on challenges. Where even young people can increasingly try new things. Now, I feel like I've found my next excitement, wondering if that's what I want to do.
