Hello. This is Kamiyama.
Were you not raised with the saying, 'Don't bother others'? Those who weren't raised that way are lucky.
In fact, if you believe the phrase 'Don't bother others' too much, it can only become poison. Of course, being overtly bothersome in public places is unacceptable. You shouldn't bother others in a way that makes someone dislike you.
However, fundamentally, people live by bothering each other. There's no one who can live without bothering others.
When in trouble, we ask someone for help, and sometimes we complain due to a little stress. Sometimes we get support at work, and sometimes we get help in daily life. Fundamentally, humans are animals that live in groups, bothering each other. The phrase 'Don't bother others' actually denies that fundamental principle.
This is an acquaintance's experience. The acquaintance was taught by their parents not to bother others. As a result, they subconsciously started to hold back from asking for help. Won't I be a bother to someone? I don't want to bother people. Always, in their mind, they developed the habit of solving things themselves without asking for help.
What happens then is, even if something happens, they won't know how to rely on others. Even if they want help, they become someone who keeps it to themselves. Sometimes, there are people who try to solve everything themselves. Such people often haven't been taught how to rely on others in the past.
Bothering each other and living while forgiving each other is the animal called human.
Looking at the state of the world, values regarding bothering people differ quite a lot.
What's famous is a saying taught in India.
'Since you live by bothering others, you should also forgive others.'
Indeed, they know that humans are creatures that bother others.
That's why, I think, the most human way of living and teaching is being practiced.
What's important is not bothering others, but 'forgiving others for bothering you'.
A society where people bother each other and live while forgiving each other is healthier.
Because it doesn't contradict the very way of human life.
If you stop bothering others, then you can't take bold actions either.
For example, when trying to hold an event in a public place, you think, 'Won't it cause inconvenience?'
When trying to take some action, you become conscious of, 'Will it bother people?'
In essence, to succeed in life, bold actions may sometimes be necessary.
However, the curse of 'you must not bother others' makes you hesitate to take a step forward.
Sometimes, even if you cause inconvenience, taking the plunge can lead to better results.
That said, most people would think, 'It doesn't mean don't help each other.'
Something like harassment, or doing something bothersome in a public place.
To put it simply, it means 'don't do things like crime or harassment'.
However, that cannot be conveyed by the words 'don't cause trouble' alone.
It's not that causing trouble for others is bad; it's the way you cause it that's the problem.
It's okay to cause trouble, but don't cause it for things you shouldn't.
It's good to help each other and get involved, but don't unilaterally become a nuisance.
In other words, I think it includes such nuances.
When taught not to cause trouble, people also lose sight of how to rely on others.
That's precisely why people should convey how to cause trouble.
And, as taught in India, we should also convey how to forgive.
Causing trouble for others and living while forgiving each other.
Instead of unilaterally causing trouble like harassment, there's a good way to cause trouble.
After all, the exchange of trouble and forgiveness becomes mutual help and initiative, moving people.
Humans are creatures who live by causing trouble for someone.
And they are social animals who live by forgiving each other.
They are certainly not animals that live as individuals.
That's precisely why we need to live in a way that allows us to honestly help each other.
When causing trouble, it's also necessary to honestly cause it.
We must never deny such a fundamental principle of being human.
Since you live by causing trouble for others, you should also forgive others.
This phrase, a basic concept in India, teaches us many things.
It re-conveys the wonder of mutual help and makes us understand it clearly.
How to cause trouble for someone, how to ask for help, it might be good to reconsider these.
Especially in Japan today, there are many people who don't know how to ask for help or how to cause trouble.
That's why the number of suicides is increasing, and many people choose death in solitude, isn't it?
If everyone, when they are struggling or in trouble, could honestly cause trouble for someone.
Then society would surely become much warmer.
Cause trouble for others, and forgive others.
I hope we can live within such a gentle chain.
