[Part 6] Are small failures the key? Two ways to increase your success rate in side business/startup from scratch.

[Part 6] Are small failures the key? Two ways to increase your success rate in side business/startup from scratch.

Starting a side business or venture from scratch, from zero.
I think there are many people who feel anxious about this.
It's natural if you have no knowledge or experience and have never done it before.

Isn't the success rate for starting a side business or venture from scratch low?
How can you increase the success rate?

I have been continuously starting things from scratch and monetizing them.
I am good at launching side businesses and ventures.
That's why there are many things I've come to see.
Starting a business from scratch is not scary at all.

This is because the success rate of side businesses and ventures can be increased.

At least, if you don't give up, there are no major failures.
However, small failures and pivots within continuous effort are key.
This time, I will talk about how to increase the success rate of side businesses and ventures.

Or rather, I've been talking about this kind of thing several times recently.
I hope you recognize that this is important content.

Repeating small failures leads to an increased success rate for side businesses and ventures started from scratch!

They say failure is the mother of success, and that's true.
By failing, people learn and can increase their success rate.
By making many small failures, you can increase your success rate.

However, not big failures, but small failures.

To increase the success rate of starting a side business or venture from scratch, persistence is key.
It is precisely because of persistence that you can increase your success rate in starting a side business or venture from scratch.
If you make a big mistake and can no longer even continue.
You will also be unable to increase your success rate.

As you continue, make small moves.
For example, when doing new marketing.
Before spending a large budget, spend a small amount and observe customer reactions.

Imagine launching a single advertisement.

You should not invest a huge budget or effort into an advertisement whose success is still unknown.
Only after you are confident that it will almost certainly succeed, should you invest both budget and effort.
This is obvious, but surprisingly, many people can't do it.
Many people try to create something elaborate and launch it all at once, instead of 'creating moderately and releasing'.

This is the cause of big failures.

To increase the success rate of starting a side business or venture from scratch, first make it 'simple and small' to launch.
Then, repeatedly make small failures to pinpoint what increases the success rate.
Only after you know 'this is it!' for increasing the success rate, should you launch.
Once you know the success rate is high, you should gradually scale up.

Basically, start small and grow big.
Gradually expand from your surroundings.
This flow fundamentally increases the success rate of side businesses and startups from scratch.
Make small failures before they become big failures to increase your success rate.

This content is,Trouble consultationI also talked about it during that time, didn't I?
It can also be said to be the most important thing for increasing the success rate of side businesses and startups from scratch.

If you think the success rate of your side business or startup from scratch is low, have the courage to immediately change direction (pivot)!

There is one more important thing to increase the success rate of side businesses and startups from scratch.
That is changing direction (pivoting).

I just mentioned that continuation is important.
Continuation means not letting the core theme or vision you want to achieve in your business waver.
It is continuation in the sense of not letting your core waver.

It doesn't mean never changing the form of output or offering.

The form of offering should be adjusted to the most easily accepted form.
And what is the form of offering? It is the business itself.
You need the courage to transform (pivot) the form of the business itself according to the situation.
Without the courage to change, the success rate in side businesses and startups will not increase.

For example, let's say you have a vision to 'make living environments comfortable around the world'.
So, you focus on air and sell air purifiers, right?
But let's say the air purifier didn't sell.
There are many competitors, and it's not easy to succeed, is it?

In such cases, you don't sell air purifiers; you sell something else.
However, you must not deviate from the vision of "improving living environments worldwide".
Consider if there are other ways to "improve living environments worldwide".
Once found, immediately offer the next product.
Pivoting to suit the situation is what increases the success rate of side businesses and startups.

There's also the question of whether it's okay to change products so quickly.
I can assure you, it's okay.

If the vision you want to achieve is the same, then, in extreme cases, you're just increasing the variety of products.
It's when this becomes a completely different vision that you fail.
Accepting reality and pivoting increases the success rate of side businesses and startups.

There are many successful examples of pivoting.
Regarding examples of pivots, if you search on Google, you'll find a lot.

For example, YouTube. It's a pivot from a dating site.
Instagram is also a pivot from social check-ins.
X (formerly Twitter) was originally a podcast search service.
By the way, OPENSEED is also a pivot from a website creation school.

In this way, including major businesses today, pivoting increases the success rate.
If pivoting were a bad thing.
It means that neither YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), nor Instagram existed.
It is now a given that pivoting increases the success rate of side businesses and startups from scratch.

By the way, the stage at which a business can be established is called product-market fit.
You repeat pivots and adjust your business until you achieve product-market fit.
Only with this understanding can you increase the success rate of side businesses and startups from scratch.

By failing small and changing direction (pivoting), you increase the success rate of side businesses and startups from scratch.

By the way, as a supplement, changing direction (pivoting) is not just about big changes.
Even minor changes in presentation and revisions to copywriting seem to be a type of pivot.
The reason I say 'seem to be' is that perceptions vary quite a bit in this area.
Or rather, perceptions don't really matter; what's important is the action itself.

What I've talked about this time is something I've mentioned several times recently.
However, it is precisely that important for increasing the success rate of side businesses and startups.

Start small, repeat small failures, and change direction (pivot).
And gradually adjust towards product-market fit.
This series of steps increases the success rate of side businesses and startups.

Starting big and failing big in anything is a double-edged sword.
You can gradually increase the success rate of side businesses and startups without gambling.

Originally, this methodology is a technique implemented mainly in Silicon Valley.
It's a method created to slightly increase the success rate of startups and reduce investment risk in entrepreneurship.
It's a way of thinking that anyone who knows global standards would practice.
In other words, it's a highly reliable method and way of thinking, isn't it?

If you want to know more, please read "The Textbook for Creating Work".
Furthermore, I have written content that delves deeper to increase the success rate of side businesses and entrepreneurship.

So, everyone, please go ahead and put it into practice, and try your hand at side businesses and entrepreneurship.
Even if you acquire information and increase your knowledge, it won't materialize unless you put it into practice.
Moreover, you'll never truly master it.
Only by putting it into practice can you truly realize, 'Ah, this is what increases the success rate.'
